Fallout 4 fixes in Linux/SteamPlay

Howdy, since there are lots of people asking for help for issues such as mouse instability in the game Fallout4 on Steam with Linux/SteamPlay.
Here’s a solutions that worked on several Linux distro’s i’ve have tested.

Fix nr 1. Mouse Inaccuracy:

If you have the game Fallout 4 installed, now navigate to following path:

/home/<users>/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/377160/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Fallout4/

There you will find these files:

Fallout4Prefs.ini
Fallout4.ini

Now open file Fallout4Prefs.ini with your most beloved GUI or CLI text editor, delete everything inside that file. Now save the file and close editor.
Next step you need to create file called Fallout4Custom.ini, also open this file with your favor editor and add following lines inside the file:

[Controls]
bBackgroundMouse=1

It will looks something like this:

Now save the file and close the editor screen.

Fix nr 2. crackling audio:

Some users have issues in the game, overal NPC’s voices are “crackling” and barely understandable.

To fix this issue you need to launch the game with following parameters:

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES=”xaudio2_7=n,b” PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 PROTON_LOG=1 %command%

It will look like this:

Press OK, and start the game.

This will fix the sound issues with NPC having the “crackling” voices.

Here’s a prove everything is working nicely on my Fedora 31.

Now you are ready to file up the game & enjoy gameplay! Got questions?! Be free to ask in comments or hit me up on Twitter!
